Play therapy
Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of counselling that allows children to express and process emotions through play, their natural language. Sessions typically run for 30–45 minutes, approximately once a week, and continue for 20–30 sessions, depending on the child’s progress toward therapeutic goals.
To ensure consistent support, parent check-in sessions are held every 4–5 sessions. These check-ins focus on discussing the child’s progress, sharing insights, and identifying strategies that can be applied at home to support emotional growth and behavioural change.
Who Will Benefit:
-
Children experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, or behavioural challenges
-
Children with difficulty expressing themselves through words
-
Neurodivergent children (e.g., Autism, ADHD) needing emotional support
-
Children adjusting to separation, loss, or life transitions
-
Parents seeking to better understand and support their child’s emotional needs
What to Expect:
-
A child-led, safe, and engaging play environment
-
Use of toys, creative materials, and symbolic play to support emotional expression
-
A consistent and nurturing therapeutic relationship
-
Parent involvement through regular check-ins and practical strategies for home
-
A gradual process tailored to the child’s developmental pace and needs
-
Support in building emotional awareness, resilience, and positive behaviour

Group play therapy
Group Play Therapy provides children with a safe and supportive space to build social-emotional skills through play-based interactions with peers. Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes, held weekly, and run over a term-based or short-term block (e.g., 6–10 sessions) depending on group goals.
Facilitated by a trained therapist, the group uses play, games, storytelling, and creative activities to help children develop emotional regulation, social connection, and cooperative problem-solving.
Who Will Benefit:
-
Children who struggle with peer relationships, turn-taking, or sharing
-
Children experiencing social anxiety or difficulties with group settings
-
Neurodivergent children (e.g., Autism, ADHD) developing social-emotional awareness

Tutoring service
At Nurtura, our tutoring services go beyond academics, we support the whole child. Sessions are held every second week during school terms, allowing time for reflection and integration between sessions. During school breaks, we also offer group tutoring programs focused on special subjects, making learning fun, social, and enriching.
What sets Nurtura apart is our "tutoring buddy" model. Each child is paired with a university student who shares similar interests—creating a connection that feels more like a supportive older sibling than a traditional tutor. This unique bond helps foster both learning and trust.
Our university tutors are closely supervised by registered therapists, ensuring each session considers not just academic progress, but also emotional wellbeing. While your child will work one-on-one with their tutor, they’re supported by our entire multidisciplinary team—working together behind the scenes to nurture your child’s growth.
Who Will Benefit:
-
Children who need extra support in specific academic areas
-
Learners who benefit from mentoring and relationship-based support
-
Neurodivergent students who need tailored, strengths-based learning
-
Children struggling with focus, confidence, or school-related anxiety
-
Families seeking both academic and emotional support in one place
What to Expect:
-
Fortnightly tutoring sessions during the school term
-
Group tutoring workshops during school holidays on special interest topics
-
A peer-like tutor matched to your child’s personality and interests
-
Emotional wellbeing supported by therapist-led supervision
-
Collaborative, team-based care designed to uplift the whole child
-
A relaxed and encouraging environment where learning feels safe and engaging
